WELCOME TO THE PREMIERE issue of Trailer Boating Canada, a brand new
magazine from Kerrwil Publications Limited – publishers of Canadian Yachting
and Boating Industry Canada.
Why Trailer Boating Canada? We want to enable people who have little or
no experience to get into and stay in boating. Of course, we’ll have plenty of editorials for experienced boaters, too.
In the printed version as well as on our brand new web site
– www.trailerboating.ca – we will be amassing a wealth of ‘how to’ information,
tourism and vacation resources, professional advice on boats and boating all with
the emphasis on boating activities.
We want to help you to get out and do it!
That means finding a dealer, selecting a boat, financing the boat (and trailer)
package, setting up your vehicle to tow and choose the vacation getaway that
you want to try this time – whether it’s fishing, cruising, wakeboarding, water skiing, swimming or just having a great escape on the water with family and friends!
One of the things that we really encourage in Trailer Boating Canada
magazine is travel with and by boat. With the right boat and even a small car, you can
enjoy places that are far off the beaten path…or may normally only be the
domain of millionaires. With a $500 a month boat, you get to see the same shoreline view as they do.
In this premiere issue, read Carly Poole’s article about helping more women
learn how to drive more boats. Ian Feld writes the Tow Times column. There’s
an article that gives basic encouragement and trailer driving advice to people
who’ve never towed a trailer before.
John Gullick from the Canadian Power and Sail Squadron (CPS) writes the
Knowledge column. In this issue, he covers the important aspects of basic trailer safety.
Is something keeping your family from going boating? Jennifer Harker writes
a strange but important article called (Dis)Comfort Factors with wise advice to
people secretly concerned about motion sickness, an inability to swim or worries about cruising with very young children.
Have you ever dreamed about owning a personal watercraft (referred to as
PWCs)? PWCs are now very quiet and smooth thanks to some amazing new
technologies; they’re also fast and remarkably seaworthy. Read Craig Nicholson’s
feature on planning your first PWC trip.
Maybe you want to try wakeboarding. See the Tow Sports column by Jay
Poole, a professional water ski instructor.
Of course, we also test new boats! The editors of Trailer Boating Canada put
six boats through their paces. Read about the Hunter 21, a trailerable day sailboat, a large trailerable sailboat called the Odin and four powerboats ranging
from $13,000 to $92,000. Whatever your budget, we've got you covered. Our goal
is to encourage you to explore Can ada by water.
Destination features include the ideal novice overnight boat cruise from
Trenton to Campbellford (in Ontario) on Canada's heritage waterway – the Trent-Severn. For fishing fans,
check out our BC Salmon Fishing expedition.
Our next issue will feature more about
cruising comfort with recipes, cooking
onboard, ways to make every member
of the family comfortable and lots, lots
more. You, too, can afford to become
a trailer boater today!
