First impressions are that it’s
extremely stable, but it’s the expansive
cockpit that sets this boat apart allowing for six adults easily. The depth of
the cockpit, is perfect for family cruising adding comfort and safety. Sail
control lines are all very accessible and
the centerboard is easily handled
thanks to its hydraulic lift. The furling
jib is a nice touch too and a snap to
furl. The line that secures the front of
the jib sail pull out from where it has
automatically wound itself up for storage. Pull and out comes the sail – as
much or as little as conditions dictate.
The VARA Rudder System is a simple
lift system for the dagger board rudder,
another system to make sailing simple
and fun!.
There is room on the transom for a
motor mount which is included. The
standard boat includes a trailer, mainsail and jib sail but we’d really recommend a few up-grades that would
include the V-berth for overnight
sleeping (also a handy place for day
sailors to get changed or stow valuables), a Porta-potti in the cabin, seat
cushions for added comfort and the
padded rudder bag. Naturally, an outboard engine is extra but that’s a must
when the wind is not cooperating and
when you need to moor or haul out.
A solid recommendation would be to
have a 4 HP engine on the bracket at
all times. ●
