and speedometer, engine hours and
other digital information as well as a
fuel gauge.
There are three primary options to
the Smoker Craft Resorter 151 boat,
motor and trailer package; the depth
sounder/fish finder, mooring cover
and electric trolling motor. Those
fishing features will be appreciated.
The starboard interior side is finished
with side-mounted engine control
and storage while the port side is
open with rod holders to keep your
fishing rods secure and out of the
way while traveling.
At the bow is a small deck to
mount an electric trolling motor. The
optional Minn Kota trolling motor can
be swung down into the water once
you’ve stopped the boat. Relocate one
of the pedestal seats to the forward
casting platform, get out the foot control and control the boat with your
foot while you fish.
Also in the forward casting platform is storage and an aerated live
well with a gasketed lid to prevent
the water from spilling.
Across the stern is an aft casting
platform with another seat base, side
decks to mount downriggers and
you can use the platform as a seat.
Underneath are the batteries and
fuel tanks.
We recorded a 31.2 mph top speed
and found that the Resorter handles
beautifully, rides particularly well for
a boat of this size and it feels like it’s

really tearing along. The 40 hp Suzuki
four-stroke engine is very smooth and
willing, responding quickly to the
throttle. You can trim it up higher and
higher to get more speed and it
behaves just like the bigger bass boats
but in an easy-to-manage size with an
easy-to-manage price tag. We think
this represents a particularly likable
family utility boat and the Suzuki
engine is a sweetheart. ●
